Kafe Karachi was my regular kebab shop and I sitll frequent it on those late night returns along the Ladypool road.

First thing I tend to notice is the array of marinated meats and fish along the left hand side, followed by the rotisserie chicken cage, although I tend to stick with what I know and order something simple, there's always a great deal of choice in the counter fridge and it's always tempting to try some fish or a nice lamb chop.

After ordering (and often there is a small cue, as this place is popular) there is a tv with the latest news from Pakistan and of course you can just enjoy watching the hub bub of the restaurant as fires lick the sides of whole chickens and kebabs sizzle on the grill.

Karachi Kafe seems to do a good trade right through the afternoon and equally see's a good late night turnout for it's spicy delights.

It's popular with locals and often you'll see quite large tables with familes dining there, service is quick and if you dine in, the tables are well stacked with sauces.

Karachi Kafe is quite a hip little joint with modern styling and in terms of what is does holds sway over the lower end of Ladypool road.

I have just eaten here 27/10/2014 @9.55pm and the the burger (KK Special Burger) I ordered was apparently the best they had to offer. Although the food arrived promptly and hot, the burger itself was nothing special. It tasted ok but had no special taste and had nothing special about it. The "Keema Mattar" which is mince balti with peas was tasty and well cooked. Another restaurant I have encountered in 3 days that does NOT accept card payments. Extraordinary!!. I'd visit here again but not anytime soon.

I have to admit, I'm not really a fan of kebabs at the best of times but after a drunken night out on the way back to a friends, it was forced upon me!

I was most impressed as unlike previous kebabs that I've sampled, this was not greasy and it takes almost like fresh chicken which was full of flavour.

The pitta was generously filled with salad and topped with mint yoghurt sauce. The guys behind the counter were quick at serving us considering how busy it was.

Not too shabby for a take away joint. I think it's pretty popular with the locals as my friend is now a regular.

I'm going to dispense with any usual pre amble or attempt at formal introduction here and just indiscriminately yell "BEST CHICKEN KEBABS IN BIRMINGHAM" - possibly the world. It's difficult to pin point why these kebabs are so much better than all the  other kebabs in a city that's generally knee deep in reconstituted pillars of meat , but the quality of the meat is definitely much better here, and the delicious nans that hold them together definitely help a lot. The price is higher than virtually every other kebab in the city, but the quality has totally justified the higher price every time in my opinion, and it still works out cheaper than a curry.
They serve curries, burgers and other stuff like that but I've never tried any of those because I've been too busy eating chicken kebab. I'm sure the other dishes are good though. Oh, and did I mention that the kebabs are really good?

I would not recommend this place. We went late at night when we had a few drinks and usually everything tatses nice. We ordered some SF Chicken. Once I got home and started to eat my chicken, I realised it was very well done at one end and almost raw at the other, plus I found a suspicious purple stain on the flesh of the chicken. Needless to say have never been back and it did put me off chicken for a while!
